The power of healing the mind, body and spirit with food

September is here, and we’re all feeling curious about what the fall months will look like. With so much uncertainty around this stressful time for everyone, this month’s focus is on the power of food when it comes to protecting and healing our bodies from illness.

  • Using whole food to protect yourself from getting sick with Charleston Dollano, executive chef and co-owner of What’s Good Wellness Center on Thursday, September

Charleston Dollano is the Executive Chef and Co-Owner of What’s Good Wellness Center. He has been in the hospitality industry for over 2 decades. Charleston specializes in fermenting, sprouting, making people laugh, growing micro-greens, seeing things from multiple perspectives, and creating foods based on the Chinese medicine philosophy.

He went to Humber College for culinary management and since then explored every aspect of the industry from sports bars to fine dining to small privately-owned restaurants.Charleston has also assisted his mentor in winning first place in the first Corchon 555 competition in Canada and winning a silver medal in the 2016 Golden Plate Olympics.

He is a published co-author of the book IVF Meal Plan, which outlines a step-by-step guide to maximizing your chances of In-Vitro fertilization through diet. Charleston listens to old school and meditative hip hop when he’s in his element. He enjoys learning all about foraging and jumps at the opportunity to share knowledge with anyone who has an interest in eating healthy food without sacrificing flavour.

Each workshop is held via Zoom meeting to ensure this opportunity is available to everyone from the safety of their own homes. Please know these workshops are just that – an opportunity to listen and learn – bring your questions and be ready for a great discussion.

Follow along this month as we talk more about the power of food – and how specific ingredients can benefit our bodies, fighting off stress and preventing illness.

We’ll explore processed and unprocessed foods, with a focus on some of our favourite seasonal fruits and vegetables. We will also learn about traditional Chinese medicine, herbs, and treatments such as acupuncture and how they can heal our bodies.
